7 Steps to Wall Mount a Sonos ARC
w/o Violating Electrial Code

Although the cover will hide any cables, most electrical codes don’t allow power cords to be run in a wall. Installing an outlet behind your soundbar is easy and the cover is big enough to hide it. Check out our how-to video for 7 easy steps and 9 great pro tips. Be sure to follow code in your area.

  1. Mark location for soundbar outlet

  2. Mark location for low voltage ring

  3. Cut out holes

  4. Fish wires

  5. Connect recessed outlet to power

  6. Attach the wall mount

  7. Slide soundbar and cover into place

9 Pro Tips for
Mounting a Sonos ARC

  1. Make marks on painters tape, not on the wall (and use a pencil).

  2. Mark stud locations to make sure they aren’t in the way

  3. Make the hole for HDMI cable behind the TV first. Line it up with where the center of the soundbar is going to. If there’s anything in the way and you get stuck, at least the TV will cover the hole.

  4. Fold up the corners on an envelope to make a basket then tape it to the wall to catch dust when drilling or cutting

  5. Before drilling or cutting, use a flat head screw driver to make a pilot hole and check for pipes or wires so nothing gets damaged.

  6. When trying to locate the right breaker, plug in something loud like a vacuum cleaner and listen for it to turn off.

  7. Making a center mark on the wall mount makes it easier to line up.

  8. Getting the wall mount perfectly level can be hard. Drive the first screw so one end of the mount is fixed in place. Then level and mark the second screw so its easier to line up.

  9. Mark holes in the center of the slots on the wall mount incase right/left adjustment is needed to get the soundbar perfectly centered.

Installation Guide and Troubleshooting for
Sound Bar Cover

  1. Install a Sonos ARC on the wall using the Sonos Wall Mount. Place the cover into place. It’s that simple. Pegs on the bottom of the cover slide into slots on the back of the soundbar which hold and center the cover.

  2. The cover is 8” long and sits flush with the top of the soundbar once installed. It will hide anything within 1.5” of the top of the Sonos Wall Mount and within 4” of either side of center.

  3. If there’s an outlet behind the soundbar, the bottom of the Sonos Wall Mount needs to be flush with the bottom of the outlet. If the Wall Mount is more than 3/8” below the bottom of the outlet, the top of the outlet may interfere with the cover sitting correctly on the wall. If the Wall Mount is above the bottom of the outlet, the bottom of the outlet might be visible after the Sonos ARC is installed.

  4. If the Sonos ARC sags on the wall, it doesn’t look very good and it can also cause gaps around the cover. If the soundbar isn’t firmly and rigidly attached to the wall, tighten the thumb screws on the back of the soundbar and/or the screws that hold the mount on the wall.
